Castle (Fantasy Era)
Castle (Fantasy Era) is a Castle subtheme LEGO introduced in May 2007 running until 2009 when it was replaced by the Kingdoms theme. It is referred to as "Fantasy Era" in the fan community to differentiate and describe the series, but it is identified simply as "Castle" by LEGO.
The new theme was released initially with two factions: the Crown Knights (humans) and a skeleton faction, led by an evil wizard. In 2008 two new factions were introduced into the same playtheme, the Dwarves (allied with the Crown Knights) and Trolls (allied with the evil undead).

Medieval Market Village
The series may have started with an emphasis on the fantastical but one set in the later years was generally lauded by fans as representing something special in the design of Castle sets. The Medieval Market Village (10193)[1] aka MMV was a civilian-themed set applauded for the civilian buildings used rather than yet another castle tower and also for the introduction of cows and the return of the very popular, but rare, turkey. Somewhat out of place amongst the other sets it did provide a small medieval townscape, something never before seen in official sets. Another set with a civilian emphasis was released as part of the subsequent Kingdoms series: Mill Village Raid (7189).
