What BrickWiki is not
BrickWiki is not a general encyclopedia
Not everything under the sun should have an article in BrickWiki. If you can relate it to LEGO, then feel free to write about it. If you are looking for general information, then try Wikipedia.
- BrickWiki is an encylopedia for LEGO technology: our collective knowledge of what we can do with LEGO elements.
- BrickWiki is an encylopedia for LEGO culture: our collective experience of the significant things we have done with LEGO elements.
BrickWiki is not an advertising agency
Don't add things just so your website can get more hits. You may want to look into things like Google AdWords for that. BrickWiki is not supported by advertisements. It is supported directly by LEGO fans like you.
What BrickWiki does promote is the open sharing of what can be done with LEGO elements.
BrickWiki is not what other sites already do well
- It is not a set database. That is Brickset and Brickipedia and others.
- It is not a parts database. That is Peeron and BrickLink.
- It is not a MOC bin. That is MOCPages and Brickshelf and even Flickr.
- It is not a fan forum. That is LUGNET and other fan groups.
BrickWiki is a guide and gateway to the LEGO collective.
