There are many ways to make MOCs with AZMEP in them.
AZMEP Techniques
AZMEP is a German acronym for "center plate", it natively stands for "Aus-Zwei-Mach-Eins-Plaettchen" (Make-one-out-of-two-plate). AZMEP techniques are offset techniques useful for odd number size creations. There are many techniques for AZMEP building, some are detailed on pages 8 to 11 of this document LEGO Train in perfect size by Reinhard Beneke, BrickFest PDX '04 presentation.
The most commonly used AZMEP Technique is based on the jumper plate part use.
