Remove Redirect?

I am going to edit this template to remove the section for redirects. Current practice is to simply redirect and we also need a simple "this page should be deleted" template that makes grammatical sense. Tedward 17:41, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

Usage

To use this, it takes one named parm "NewPage= blah blah blah" not a positional parm (I am a fan of named parms, what can I say)... it does not add any brackets around what it is given so it's freeform text, add your own.

Some examples:

Category deletion with new category as new content. Most common usage as you can't move/redirect categories. Often due to a capitalization fix in the category name. Say you moved category "Building With Bricks" to category "Building with bricks"

which gives this

StopSignTrim.png
NOTICE: This category or article has has been marked for deletion.

If you see any content on a page that has this notice you should either move the content to the correct place, or argue against deletion on the appropriate talk page - sometimes the BrickWiki_talk:conventions page may have discussion of this move if it's extensive or controversial.

If you are a person who can delete things, please delete this and the corresponding talk page, if any, unless it's clear there is still unmoved content here or on the corresponding talk page in need of fixing.

Category deletion where the category had content and you moved it to an article. Common when collapsing categories. Say you eliminated category "Prototypes" but there was content there so you moved it to the Prototypes article ....

which gives this:

Article deletion (but why wouldn't you leave a redirect? Usually you would...) say you were deleting "Plastic Brick" because it was replaced with "Brick" ....

which gives this:

Article or category deletion with two different articles as new content. Say you had moved the content to two different places...

which gives this

Article or category deletion with article and category as new content. Say you realised that some of the stuff really belongs in a category description.

which gives this

Why you should not used this Template for page moves

#REDIRECT Destination page Is allot more Practical for page moves because it

 1. Doesn’t require an Admin to delete the page. (Anyone can use it)
 2. Prevents breaking links to previous page. (before you delete a page you have to go back and remove the links to it using the What links her button)

The wiki is experiencing some technical difficulties, and cannot contact the database server.--Yskyflyer 21:53, April 30, 2006 (Eastern Daylight Time)

Nod. We do a lot of redirects. Probably 90-95% of the time redirect is the way to go. A few times, it isn't. (such as category moves, to clean up the old cat). This template is for those times, and for stuff that just needs to go, like vandal content, which we get a little of. ++Lar: t/c 01:56, May 1, 2006 (Eastern Daylight Time)
