Size standard

When did the size standard change from 6x6 to 8x8? And yes, I know a few people still do 6x6. SpaceCaptain 20:20, 1 August 2005 (Eastern Daylight Time)

The first vigs from that Japanese forum were all 6x6, and when I first saw these I posted some 6x6 vigs of my own on Classic-Castle. The idea caught on and others built similar MOCs. Some people went to a bigger footprint, because you can fit more details on them. There were debates back and forth "That's not a real vig", "Yes it is" etc. Personally I've come to think of either 6x6 or 8x8 as 'standard', though on VignetteBricks I refer to larger creations as 'Vignette-Like Creations' when they have the same spirit. When Nate and Nelson wrote the FAQ for, they took a more expansive view of what 'counts', but in the Joe Vig contest they limited it to 8x8 maximum. Of course, with any evolving fan theme, it's sort of all in the eyes of the individual builder. Bruce 4 August 2005

Shameless Image

The image I just added, IndyLUG vignettes.jpg, features my own MOC. Shameless, I know. You won't offend me by deleting it. Honestly, it was the best image I had of vignettes, and it's not even a very good quality image. Mainly I needed to test image uploading, and so I had to use something I owned. --ALittleSlow 21:40, 9 July 2012 (CDT)

No issue with adding your own MOC... but I wonder if a religious subject is ideal? Claude Bombarde 22:11, 15 July 2012 (CDT)
I thought of that. Ironically, the reason I didn't censor it on religious grounds is that that would have violated NPOV by omission. Hopefully, the combination of poor image quality and potential controversy will motivate someone to post a better image. ;) --ALITTLESlow: t/c 13:16, 16 July 2012 (CDT)
