This article is about a technical detail of the molding process. For the activity go to Draft.

Draft is a plastic molding term. It refers to the taper or angle away from perfectly orthogonal that a molded piece has. For a piece to be ejected from a mold successfully, some draft is necessary on all faces that are perpendicular to the mold face. (and of course, no face can slope in the wrong direction, to get more complex surfaces, multi part molds are needed)

LEGO parts use very low draft, believed well under .5 degree, but in most plastic molding applications one or two degrees is more common.
