Brickwiki:To-do list

From Brickwiki
Jump to: navigation, search

This is the general to-do list for BrickWiki. Your feedback is welcome and important, because BrickWiki needs to be useful to you.

Be bold! Bang away at this list. If you need more structure than that, read the guidelines and procedure.

Try to keep this list sorted by priority, from highest at the top, to lowest at the bottom. Keep in mind that this only serves to suggest priorities to would-be implementers.

Create a task here to prioritize

  • items that need done that aren't covered in one of the above locations,
  • action on Technical issues,
  • tasks resulting from decisions on Open Questions or Conventions
  • creation of articles in the BrickWiki or Help namespaces

If you think something should not be done, it is better to discuss why and/or push it down the priority list than to remove it from the list.

To-Do List

Highest priority is frist.

  1. decide BrickWiki governance mechanism and document it. Brickwiki:Open Questions 2012-05-21 ALittleSlow essentially done. may still be some tweaks. --ALittleSlow 21:10, 1 July 2012 (CDT)
  2. Tweak the ConfirmAccount E-mail messages and BrickWiki E-mail address(es), and implement confirmaccount permissions the right way (via LocalSettings.php) --ALittleSlow 11:02, 7 June 2012 (CDT) In progress --ALITTLESlow: t/c 11:32, 12 July 2012 (CDT)
  3. See if the LDRAW extension is working, and fix it if not. ALittleSlow 2012-05-25. In Process ALittleSlow 18:17, 27 June 2012 (CDT). References Brickwiki:Conventions/2012_cleanup#Documenting_colors, Help:LDraw, Brickwiki_talk:Technical_Issues/Archive1#Swath.28tch.29_suggestions. And no, it doesn't work very well.

  6. fix Wikipedia interwiki link for BrickWiki. It goes to Brickipedia. In Process ALittleSlow 2012-05-25. I put a request in to fix it at the Meta wiki Interwiki_map. I think it will propagate to Wikipedia when implemented. ALittleSlow 16:20, 27 June 2012 (CDT)
  7. create template to do smart conversion and conventional display of studs, bricks, and LDD. ALittleSlow 2012-05-25.

To discuss a task and help reach a consensus:

  • in most cases, you just edit the task as described below, summarizing the change and its reason in the edit summary as necessary
  • if more discussion space is needed (and only if the discussion has no other place to occur), enter a new heading at the bottom of this page (just above External References) to start a new discussion

To add a task to the to do list:

  • click the "edit" link at the top of the to-do list
  • insert a line in the list where you think the task falls in order of priority (highest at the top)
  • enter "#" followed by the description of the task. Please begin with a verb such as "explain", "discuss", "justify" to clearly describe the task.
  • enter an edit summary as needed,
  • if a discussion has already started on the task on another page, provide a like to that discussion in the summary
  • add ~~~~ to the end of desired task.
  • select "watch", and save your changes
  • you can now go back to the talk page to check your entry. If necessary, click the purge or refresh button to refresh it.

Similarly, to edit or remove a task from the to-do list:

  • click the "edit" link at the top of the to-do list
  • edit or re-prioritize the task in the edit box
  • enter an edit summary as needed, select "watch", and save your changes
  • you can now go back to the talk page to check your entry. If necessary, click the purge button to refresh it.

To mark a task as in progress:

  • click the "edit" link on this page
  • add ''In progress'' ~~~~ to the end of desired task.
  • save your edit
  • remember to remove your marker if you cease working on it, and to mark it as complete if finished

To mark an task as complete:

  • click the "edit" link on this page
  • Surround the item with <del>...</del> tags to strike it out.
  • add ''Complete'' ~~~~ to the end of completed task.
  • save your edit

To clean up the list:

  • when the list looks cluttered, create an archive subpage (if one doesn't already exist) and move completed items and their associated discussions there.
